The Opportunity:


The National Key Account Manager is responsible for retaining top clients, fostering deeper relationships across organizations and meeting/exceeding annual revenue targets.

This role is also responsible for analyzing business opportunities and develop proposals for potential new customers.

Key Accountabilities:

RETENTION

  • Build and maintain longterm relationships with key customers
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction maintaining close contact with all customers
  • Investigate customer needs/wants through development of annual account business plans
  • Suggest innovative ways of increasing customer satisfaction

GROWTH

  • Generate ideas for improving tools and processes for servicing National Key Accounts
  • Attend meetings, conferences and industry events
  • Keep abreast of industry and market trend and best practices
  • Negotiate contracts and rate agreements
  • Process rate quotes request for new opportunities
  • Identify new sales leads via referrals from Key Account clients, regional needs and operational fit. Some cold calling will be required.
  • Develop strategic goals to maximize sales, profit and ensure sales targets are met or exceeded

COLLABORATION

  • Work with all internal stakeholders to onboard new customers
  • Collaborate with Sales, Rates, Logistics, Operations and Customer Service teams
  • Ensure alignment and understand all cross functional areas and division for key customers
  • Performs other duties as required

What You Need To Be Successful In This Role:

  • College/University graduate in Business or related field.
  • 45 years' sales experience managing large National Accounts is required.
  • Transportation industry experience is preferred.
  • Customer service and account management experience is preferred.
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Creative and effective problem solving ability
  • Strong selling and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of North American transportation modes and customers
  • Detail and deadline oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize and multitask in a busy environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal communication skills, relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Wellorganized, enthusiastic, creative, professional and a positive team member
  • Ability to deal with rejection
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong business relationships
