The Opportunity:

The Community and Program Facilitator is responsible for facilitating and delivering community and program development opportunities, in conjunction with citizens and community organizations. This position fosters "participation and exposure to recreation, parks or culture opportunities that are accessible to residents and that enhance the quality of life in the city of Red Deer. This position also leads in the effective delivery of and accountability for recreation, parks and culture programs and services offered in conjunction with the community and The City of Red Deer and provides facilitation and professional program and administrative guidance to individuals, groups and organizations who are working collaboratively to develop and promote recreation, parks and culture in Red Deer.

This position will have a portfolio assigned that will be an area of focus. (e.g. a geographic area, a specific discipline such as visual arts, performing arts, special events, athletics, or a specific age group such as family, adults, seniors or youth.)

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

University undergraduate degree with major concentration in recreation or physical education, arts, culture or community development plus two years relevant professional recreation, parks or culture experience.

OR

Diploma in recreation, physical education, arts, culture or community development from a post-secondary institute plus four years relevant recreation, parks or culture experience. Sound knowledge of the philosophies, principles and practices of public leisure services. Strong organizational skills and functions effectively in a fast-paced challenging environment. Strong background in recreation, parks and culture development, community engagement, facilitation and development. Demonstrates effective, proactive and creative approaches in the design, development and execution of strategies and implementation plans. Demonstrates highly developed partnership and alliance building skills. Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to manage performance, coach and guide staff and/or volunteers. Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learning and on-the-job training.

Remuneration:

$46.97 to $49.44 per hour.

Hours of Work:

75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
