The Position

The position is from July 2, August 30, 2024. Hours are from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Monday - Friday).

  • Collaborate directly with the Child Wellness (Summer Fun Program) Coordinator and Summer Fun Team Leads on waterbased activity plans and safety guidelines.
  • Provide enhanced supervision for all waterbased activities and ensure safety guidelines (such as participants who require lifejackets) are followed.
  • Provide lead on guiding waterbased program safety plans in their participant cohort, including Incident Reporting.
  • Provide direct service programming to children in the Summer Fun program for waterbased activities.
  • Provide leadership to youth employees to ensure the organization of supplies and gear for the Summer Fun program's waterbased activities.
  • Be prepared to be waterbased with program participants during these activities.
  • Communicate with the Summer Fun program team about any feedback, concerns, or requests for support on a weekly basis.
  • Attend team meetings as requested.
  • Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • The minimum age requirement at the time of intake is 15 years.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a criminal record check.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Any Lifeguard-Pool or Lifeguard-Waterfront Certification, course, or experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with children in a recreation or education setting is an asset.
  • Experience leading and facilitating child/youth programs is an asset.
  • Must be available for work between Monday and Friday.
