Team Lead, International Transportation

What you'll do
The International Transportation Team Lead will provide leadership and direction to a team of Business Analysts and Specialists with a primary focus on Ocean Operations and Analysis.
The primary focus will be from Port of Origin to Port of Destination but will also spend time on the land operations side of the operation (port operations, drayage, transloading, inbound rails and ocean container management).
The Team Lead, with the support of their team, will oversee all aspects of Ocean Transport operations including optimization of carrier allocation, forecasting, tracking of minimum quantity commitments (MQCs), analysis of offshore lead times for all lanes, ocean container management, and supporting contract negotiation.
Reporting to the Manager of International Transportation and working closely with the other Team Lead of International Transportation (who's primary focus is on land operations) will work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to support key business objectives by improving customer service, controlling costs, and maintaining a high standard of compliance in Offshore Transportation.
- Support the Mgr. and AVP with negotiating carrier contracts and planning/executing the annual RFP process.
- Optimize allocations for Offshore inbound product flow (cost and service).
- Develop and manage effective and efficient offshore transportation networks through sourcing, maintaining strong relationships and partnerships within the industry.
- Work closely and in conjunction with the Land Operations, Drayage Operations, OPC and other teams to ensure the priority and sequence of container flow is provided along with weekly communication of work, priorities, issues, and resolution.
- Work closely with Customs and Compliance team to ensure compliance with Government regulations, timely and accurate submission of entries to Customs.
- Ensure effective flow of communication between both internal and external partners.
- Resource management, identification of key enablers and limiters, issue resolution, and providing expertise and sharing knowledge.
- Develop performance tracking, reporting and analytical tools to monitor and action changing trends providing a higher level of customer service and cost control for offshore transportation.
- Monitor ocean performance metrics against set service level targets and action as necessary.
- Support strategic & tactical projects throughout the year.
- Work with the manager on priorities, timelines, resource assignment, issue resolution, communications, team development, and performance reviews.
- Provide feedback and coaching to team members daily and take a lead role in developing, motivating, coaching, and advising a team of Specialists and Business Analysts.
- Complete analyses and presentations as required, presenting findings to various stakeholders including senior management.
What you bring
- Minimum 5 years working in related fields with international supply chain experience a strong asset.
- Have and/or obtain professional education in international product flow, customs and compliance, freight forwarding and related international transportation designations.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, process thinking, strong presentation and interaction skills, as well as excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong ability to partner with crossfunctional stakeholders to meet objectives.
- Proven track record in coaching and developing individuals through daily interactions.
- Knowledge of Canadian Tire Supply Chain an asset.
- Must be able to travel as required.
