RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures that NH is compliant with all applicable privacy and FOI legislation
  • Promotes awareness of privacy and FOI programs and services to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops and oversees process for addressing privacy complaints and inquiries
  • Investigates privacy breaches and incidents and recommends corrective action
  • Develops and maintains statistical framework for tracking all access and privacy requests and prepares annual privacy and freedom of information reports
  • Manages, coordinates and conducts privacy auditing and monitoring activities
  • Manages and contributes to the development and administration of NH privacy and FOI framework, policies and procedures
Assesses program-wide and institution-wide issues that need to be modified in light of changes to legislation or regulation, IPC orders and/or guidance documents

  • Processes all FOI and complex privacy access requests acts as the delegated decision maker for FOI requests, and ensures all requests are responded to within legislative timelines
  • Conducts contract review for privacy and FOI related clauses

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree, business, law, health administration or information/records management preferred or a combination of education and professional experience
Awareness of, and demonstrated interest in, privacy and access policy, trends and legislative reform

  • Privacy Certification from recognized association for privacy and freedom of information professionals (IAPP Canadian Certification (CIPP/C) preferred
  • Certified in Health Information Management preferred
  • Experience with Information Technology (IT), IT initiatives and IT Security
  • Experience implementing operational compliance programs
  • Experience with health research, quality improvement initiatives and data governance are assets
  • Evidence of effective customer service, relationship management, organizational, interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written), leadership, collaboration, judgment, critical thinking and decisionmaking skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team with representatives from all levels of the organization
  • Flexible, selfdirected and able to work effectively with mínimal supervision
  • Consistent and regular attendance required
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
