EDEC 341 Intermediate Indigenous Heritage Language

Curriculum and Instruction :
Study of local Indigenous grammar and discourse practices of literacy and orality. Focus on oral and emerging writing skills, including difficulties encountered by additional language learners.

CL Credits: 3 (This course is not team-taught)

Schedule:
June - June 21, 2023:
9am-12:15pm (No Weekends)

Location:
Kawawachikamach, Québec. Travel required and will be covered by the department.

Summer 2023

Teaching Qualification Requirements:


Education- A Master's degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered).


Experience- Expert knowledge of course content as outlined in the course description.- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l'Éducation.- Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.- Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system.- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.

Other- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date

Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform (e.g., Zoom, WebEx) and the McGill MyCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching is available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures._
