Job Description

Clinical Standards Specialists are responsible for performing various key (portfolio) functions within the Quality, Safety & Strategy portfolio, Provide policy/clinical standards expertise to the Clinical Standards Leadership Team and SHA Senior Leaders to assess risks related to the development and implementation of clinical policies and standards. Research evidence and current clinical practice standards/guidelines and conducts external environmental assessments to support evidence-informed outcomes. Monitor regulatory bodies and identifies gaps in policy/clinical standards-escalating to the Director level and the appropriate provincial Executive Lead; as appropriate. Lead policy and clinical standard development, including scheduling, planning, coordination, and preparation of documents with accountability to time-lines. Completes data collection and analysis. Co-ordinate work-flow with other Policy and Clinical Standards team members and working groups. Accountable for strict time-lines for timely delivery of clinical policy and clinical standards. Support in the publishing and maintenance of Clinical Standards documents and other databases.Under the direction of the Directors of Clinical Standards and Professional Practice and in collaboration with Senior Leadership, the Clinical Standards team, operational and clinical experts, the Clinical Standards Specialist facilitates effective provincial clinical policy/ standard development and review. Through collaborative and cooperative partnerships with SHA teams, the Clinical Standards Specialist manages the process of clinical standardization. Skills that are key to this role include leadership, project management, organization, facilitation of diverse working groups, research and communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in healthcare administration or health-related disciplines, Master's degree preferred or or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable.
Experience
3 years experience in a senior clinical role or administrative or quality improvement related areas; Lean Leader or LILT trained. Valid class 5 driver's license.
