The Visitor Experience Attendant is the first point of contact for visitors and plays an integral role in ensuring they are provided with a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable interaction, ensuring a positive experience from the outset.


Responsibilities:

Front of House Operations

  • Ensure RBG's mission and vision is communicated proactively and effectively to visitors.
  • Process admissions, greet visitors, answer questions and provide information on current programs and events.
  • Promote and sell RBG memberships, event offerings and programs.
  • Resolve visitor/customer issues and escalate to supervisory staff as required.
  • Place and collect signage when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Back of House Responsibilities- Event and program ticketing sales and support.

  • Membership sales and inquiries.
  • Group admission requests.
  • Update and maintain the membership database, ensuring information is current and accurate.
  • Contact visitors following programs and events to survey their level of satisfaction and upsell programs of similar interest.
  • Facilitate guest visits on behalf of the CEO, COO and the Development Dept.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service capacity preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams, as well as POS systems.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated experience with cash, cheque, debit, and credit card transactions.
  • Experience with daily sales reconciliation and cash floats.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • Passionate about connecting people, plants, and place. Interest in the environment, conservation, horticulture, science is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed onsite in RBG buildings, outdoor kiosks, and trail heads to provide visitors with the best experience possible at any RBG location.
  • During certain seasons, VE hosts will be required to stand outside to manage queues of visitors and/or vehicles.
  • Must be available to work during the day, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
