With a substantial budget of $15.5 million allocated for offering residential assistance to more than 75 individuals and day programs benefiting over 400 people, Broadview Village boasts a corporate culture centered on the values of servant leadership. Additionally, having recently established a new 4-year labor agreement with its largest union, Broadview Village is on the brink of emerging as a frontrunner in the developmental services sector.

You have the opportunity to join this dynamic team. Broadview Village is currently seeking a Full-Time Residential Manager. Reporting to the Director of Community Programs or designated personnel, the role of Residential Manager necessitates individuals with a deep-seated drive to motivate a team of Residential Counsellors towards excellence. Each residential facility caters to 2-10 full-time, 24/7 residents with developmental disabilities.

The Residential Manager is responsible for providing guidance to employees and residents in line with established policies and procedures, including but not limited to Employment Standards, Collective Agreements, payroll protocols, Salvation Army Accreditation, and Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 (SIPDDA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrative support and reporting
  • Oversight of hiring, training, supervision, and support for a team of highly skilled Residential Counsellors
  • Cultivating a community-centric environment that encourages collaboration among staff, residents, and their families to deliver top-tier care
  • Supervising annual individual support planning and monthly program evaluations in partnership with residents, families, front-line workers, and key stakeholders like OT's and Behavioral Therapists
  • Development and assessment of progress for resident Behavior Support Plans in collaboration with Behavioral Therapists
  • Availability for weekday, weekend, and evening on-call support on a rotational basis
  • Assisting key workers in organizing suitable resident vacations and community outings
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and procedures within the residential facility
  • Budget management and supervision of staff schedules and absences
  • Fulfilling the above responsibilities in accordance with The Salvation Army's Mission Statement and in a professional manner

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a full-time permanent position entailing 40 hours per week
  • Travel as necessary, occasional inter-site travel may be required (mileage reimbursement)
  • Possibility of carrying a cell phone and being on call for necessary responses
  • While typical work hours fall within regular business hours, occasional support for special events and projects may be requested. Flexibility is key
  • Programs cater to individuals who may display behavior challenges
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. while using proper body mechanics and meeting the physical demands of the role

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Development Service Workers diploma or equivalent post-secondary education
  • Valid and up-to-date Standard First Aid Certificate CPR Level C Certificate
  • Valid and up-to-date Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certificate
  • Proficiency in Standard First Aid/CPR and NCI and their practical application on a regular basis is an expectation of the role

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of prior leadership experience required, preferably within a nonprofit agency setting, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developmental services
  • 5 years in a leadership capacity involving program planning, education, critical analysis, union relations, accreditation, and budgeting
  • Extensive experience in developmental services and mental health services
  • Sound understanding of CQI, Lean Management, and Change Management
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current issues, trends, and best practices in developmental services and mental health services, along with enhancing work quality
  • Familiarity with contemporary quality improvement and risk management concepts with a focus on infection control, behavioral management, and medication supervision
  • Familiarity with computer operations and software applications, including resident records, participant data, and staff scheduling

  • Ability to interact skillfully and compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families
  • Strong documentation, administrative, and organizational proficiencies with a grasp of MCCSS compliance and agency accreditation requisites
  • Advocate passionately and effectively for the needs of both staff members and residents
  • Demonstrated capacity for logical problem-solving with a common-sense approach
  • Proficient in building relationships and leading change initiatives to support the team and residents through transitions
  • Strategic thinking in terms of people management and resource administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Display of leadership skills, inclusive of strategic goal-setting, budget management, conflict resolution, and efficient human and fiscal resource oversight
  • Dedication to a resident-centered leadership style
  • Commitment to treating all individuals with respect and dignity
  • Devotion to continuous professional development
  • Profound knowledge of the Developmental Sector and Quality Assurance Measure (QAM) Standards
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including mentoring and staff development
  • Proficiency in French is considered advantageous
  • Dedication to caring for individuals with diverse abilities
  • Collaborative teamwork with managers and staff to cultivate a positive and mutually supportive work environment
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and a current Driver's abstract review as requested by The Salvation Army
  • Willingness to complete all mandatory training as mandated by the agency
  • Willingness to undergo necessary screenings and background checks that meet The Salvation Army's requirements, including providing a recent Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Readiness to understand and promote The Salvation Army's mission and goals in Canada in relation to the position's responsibilities
