We are currently seeking a full-time Fire Sprinkler Fitter who can perform fire sprinkler installation, testing, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems. Acceptable applicants can be either open shop or Local 669.

Service areas include Upstate New York from Putnam and Orange Counties to Clinton and Franklin Counties and from the Albany capital district through Monroe, Ontario, Yates, Schuyler, and Chemung Counties.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, tests, inspects, maintains, repairs, or replaces fire sprinkler equipment and systems strictly following applicable NFPA codes and standards.
  • Service and inspections of wet, dry, and pre-action fire suppression systems.
  • Testing of fire pumps.
  • Backflow testing.
  • Flow testing of fire hydrants.
  • Must be able to perform maintenance and repairs on all the above systems.
  • Small tenant improvements on both commercial and residential.
  • Maintain good customer relationships.
  • Highly organized, motivated team player.
  • Ensures that each work detail is consistently completed with clean and quality workmanship.
  • Manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and clean up.
  • Flexible team player who can work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Exhibits a professional image to the customer and public in accordance with established company standards.
  • Will be working side by side as a senior Fire Sprinkler Service Technician at times; good communication skills and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

  • NICET level 1 preferred but not required.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Personally owned, reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel throughout New York State
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour week
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fire sprinkler systems.
  • Experience with commercial and residential properties.
  • Ability to complete accurate and timely maintenance and work records.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • The employee will occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • May be required to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements.
  • Self-motivated work ethic.
  • Team player with excellent people skills.

Experience & Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician performing installation, testing, repairs, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems.
