The Audiologist performs clinical audiology services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and reporting with children with, or suspected of having, a hearing disorder. Services are provided in consultation with the patient, family, other service providers and community team members. Participates in education and research as assigned.

What you'll do

Provide assessment, diagnosis and consultation for children with, or suspected of having, a hearing loss, using related diagnostic equipment in assigned clinical service area. Plan and collaborate with community partners for meeting the rehabilitation needs for children with hearing loss. Provide families with support, parent education, and counseling regarding paediatric hearing loss and related issues. Ensure referral of families to community based care providers and other recommended rehabilitation services. Contribute professional input to child specific multidisciplinary team conferences for children with hearing loss or risk factors for hearing loss to ensure audiologic needs are met in service planning. Provide support and consultation to parents and community team members as needed to facilitate implementation of audiologic recommendations. This may be achieved through telephone or direct consultation, through sharing of resource materials and/or provision of education. Document all case specific work and writes clinical reports as needed to related professionals and caregivers. Maintain workload statistics and billing information. Provide audiological consultation, education and teaching to patients/families, physicians, and related health and allied professionals/disciplines. Contribute as requested in population based research that is related to assigned clinical service Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

Qualifications

Masters degree in Audiology from a recognized University program. One (1) year of recent experience in areas related to childhood hearing loss. Registrant of the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia.
