Position Summary
Functioning as part of a coordinated service delivery team, the Outreach Worker works proactively with new and existing clients, offering a range of support and recovery services within an existing service plan and on an as-needed basis, designing and facilitating community health education and Intercultural Dialogue sessions, and developing Collaborative Agency Partnerships in the North End/Point Douglas catchment with a special focus on newcomer residents.
The Community Outreach Worker is a relationship-builder, advocate, and facilitator, and provides service in a non-judgmental and culturally appropriate manner, helping clients to build new skills and achieve their goals.

Education
- Valid Drivers' license and access to a reliable vehicle
Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in community, preferably with program target population
- Strong group facilitation skills; ability to work independently, take initiative, and be innovative in program development
- Experience with program development and implementation
- Experience providing outreach to hardtoreach populations
- Experience providing a range of services to a caseload of clients within a clientspecific goaloriented plan, that may include prevention/harm reduction, assessment, transportation (exempt Sage House), personal supports, advocacy, referrals and resources, crisis intervention, access to traditional medicines/ceremonies
- Ability to seek out new and existing clients within MCC and in the community and make an active offer of service
- Demonstrated understanding of oppression, harmreduction, and culturally grounded healing; demonstrated knowledge of community resources; emphasis on cultural safety and crosscultural communication
