Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) is the Alberta government's consolidated professional communications agency. CPE provides planning, execution and measurement of all communications efforts.

Its expert staff provide specialized services across the spectrum of communications and marketing from research, design, writing and social media, to event coordination, issues management, digital communications, advertising and public engagement.


CPE staffs the external communications functions in all departments of government and its operations branch, with a mandate of enhancing communications between the people and the Government of Alberta.

Role:


Your role as the Communications Administrator provides a variety of administrative support services, including monitoring and support of the action request tracking system (ARTS), and preparing the daily media monitoring and news clippings daily package.


Key responsibilities include:

  • 1. Providing administrative support to the communications team Answering and directing incoming phone calls
  • Reviewing and assessing mail/correspondence for appropriate action
  • Maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments and making travel arrangements
  • Overseeing records management for the branch
  • Providing onboarding/offboarding support to staff starting/leaving within the branch
  • Working closely with accommodations staff regarding office equipment, parking stalls, moves, etc.
  • Communications Support- Working closely with the communications team to ensure FOIP requests are responded to in the appropriate time frame
  • Working closely with the communications team in preparing briefing binders or distribution of large electronic packages
  • Preparing news clippings package daily and sending package out to a set distribution list
  • Answering Alberta Connects (the provincial government comment line)
  • Financial Support- Purchasing office supplies and reconciles-card
  • Ensuring required documentation and delegated authority are provided to meet audit requirements
  • Receiving, checking, and tracking basic financial transactions (e.g. travel expenses)
  • ARTS Support- Working closely with the communications team to ensure action requests are submitted in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirement:
  • High school diploma and three years of related experience

Equivalencies:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:

  • one year of experience for one year of education, or
- one year of education for one year of experience.

  • Asset:
  • Knowledge of standard GoA systems such as ARTS, BERNIE, 1GX, OPRA

Salary:

$1,884.99 to $2,307.87 bi-weekly ($49,198 to $60,235/yearly)
