Steer North America is broken down into two business units, Planning and Advisory. Upon hiring, all graduates will be designated to a business unit that aligns with their career interest. However all will have the ability to work across markets and divisions as they continue their journey at Steer.

About the role

Our growing North American team is actively seeking high-caliber individuals with a good academic background, strong people and organization skills and a passion for changing the way people navigate the world.

Working in a full-time role, one will immediately become involved in real project and proposal work from the first day.

As a graduate you will be expected to deliver the full range of consultancy work and develop your consultancy skills through a combination of on-the-job learning as well as an award-winning development and mentoring program.

During our program, one will work together with our team of industry experts and receive a personalized development program focusing on industry knowledge, consultancy skills, technical training, project management and core business skills.

Key accountabilities

  • Participate on a multidisciplinary team to tackle complex transportation problems
  • Complete research, analyze data, generate and evaluate options to identify solutions for our clients
  • Support consultation on ideas with the client, stakeholders and the public
  • Report writing to document analysis, evaluation and project outcomes
  • Support proposal/business development efforts

Work Environment


All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are encouraged to spend 60% of their time either in office or on-site with clients.

An employee's typical work week consists of 40 hours (37.5 for Canada). Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be determined for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity

Requirements:

  • Passionate about transportation and behavior change
  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive and a critical thinker
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn quickly and be willing to solve problems involving new situations
  • Transportationrelated work or research experience is an asset
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, Cube, TransCAD, Emme, R or Stata would be considered beneficial, but not essential

For our US applicants, we offer a competitive package of benefits including private medical, dental, and vision insurance, commuter benefits, a group Share Incentive Plan, a 3% 401k contribution and a discretionary yearly bonus based on annual compensation (dependent upon individual and company performance).


Additionally, we offer 20 vacation days, 9 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays, 10 paid sick days, and a bi-annual performance review process.


For our Canadian applicants, we offer a competitive package of benefits including private medical, dental, and vision insurance, a group Share Incentive Plan, a 3% RRSP contribution and a discretionary yearly bonus based on annual compensation (dependent upon individual and company performance).
