Northern Lakes College is currently seeking candidates for a part-time .5 FTE position as a Practicum Coordinator for Social Work & Addictions Counselling Programs with a reference number NLC-2145. The position offers a salary range from $33,198 to $51,228 per year, starting from August 19, 2024, and continuing indefinitely at a location to be determined.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Social Work is a prerequisite
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a related post-secondary program
- Required licenses/certificates: Registered Social Worker - R.S.W
- Hold a Class 5 driver's license
- Must undergo a criminal record check before commencing employment
The successful candidate will need to submit their College or University transcripts, valid driver's license proof, and criminal record check to Human Resources before commencing their role. This position falls under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Faculty Association.
Position Description: Practicum Coordinator - Social Work & Addictions Counselling Programs

Major Job Function:
This role primarily involves administrative and coordination responsibilities, with instructional duties allocated as needed. The Practicum Coordinator oversees the planning, execution, and assessment of practicum placements for the Social Work and Addictions Counselling programs. Responsibilities include:
- Recruitment, management, and support of all practicum placements, field supervisors, and liaisons
- Development and delivery of orientation and training to students, supervisors, and liaisons
- Management of partnership agreements with practicum agencies
- Documentation maintenance for students and practicum sites
- Integration of practicum education with program curricula
- Collaboration with faculty on field agency selection and assessment
- Planning and execution of student orientation and faculty support
- Maintenance of accreditation standards and assessment
- Collaboration with department members to ensure seamless practicum processes
- Creation of practicum placement policies handbook for students
- Maintenance of curricular documents related to practicum
- Compliance with College and departmental policies
- Development of programming for student enhancement and feedback opportunities
- Establishment of strategic agency partnerships
- Evaluation of program alignment with College, department, and industry standards
- Participation in program staff recruitment and selection
- Other duties as assigned by the department leadership
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work is required
- Minimum two years of post-secondary experience in a related program
