What responsibilities will you have in this role?

  • Works in conjunction with the HR team, the incumbent manages the endtoend recruitment and selection process Regular Part Time (RPT), Appendix D and Contract Admin appointments. Partners with HR Consultants, other HR team members and leaders to meet hiring deadlines.
  • Conducts assessments, preemployment testing, reference checks, credential verification and creating job offers and process relevant paperwork for Regular Part Time (RPT), Appendix D and Contract Admin recruitment.
  • Reviews full cycle recruitment process to identify practices that are most effective and share them with relevant team members, plus makes recommendation on ways to increase efficiency of processes and quality of service delivery to clients.
  • Participates in team projects to provide input to recruitment strategies, reporting and process improvements related to talent acquisition.
  • Organizes and participates on selection committees (interview panels), as well as provides guidance to them on processes to ensure compliance with policies and fairness of hiring practices.
  • Provides support to the HR team on projects and other related duties as assigned including input into talent management programs being developed for the College that will impact all levels of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for this role?

  • Three year Diploma or Degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Human Resource, Business Administration or equivalent depth and breath of experience.
  • Three to five years of practical workrelated experience specializing in talent acquisition across a range of disciplines/professions and talent management in high volume, changing environments. Experience in unionized environments is a definite asset.
  • Knowledgeable and experience in/with recruitment and selection processes
  • Knowledge of employment related government legislation (Employment Standards Act, Freedom of Information, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Labour Relations Act) is an asset.
  • Expertise in building and managing talent pipelines through succession planning (internal/external), social media/online vehicles, professional organizations, and other sources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, to exercise tact and diplomacy, to exhibit good judgement and to earn credibility across levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands, creatively problem solve, and build consensus on solutions to complex and contentious situations.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations, demonstrate confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgement.
  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decisionmaking processes.
