Job Description:


Reporting to the General Manager, Food & Conference Services, the Wellness and Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for researching, developing, and executing programming which positively impacts the College community experience.

These programs encompass facilitating menu and meal plan options, ensuring the nutritional program remains current and communicated in an engaging manner, and ensuring new and ongoing programs are developed to aid the department sustainability goals.

The incumbent will liaise with students, the community, employees and managers, to support health and sustainable activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Nutrition- Keeps nutritional data current and available for all menu items throughout the department.

Creates and maintains data base based on current or new menu items.- Liaise with culinary and marketing team to develop recipes, menus and nutrition programming- Develop initiatives to enhance student experience, while encouraging healthy eating options and making informed nutrition choices.- Monitor, measure and evaluate effectiveness of nutrition programming.- Assist with existing food stations, new food station concepts, and provide input on industry best practices from a nutritional lens.- Liaise with Residence and/or meal plan office regarding meal plan accommodations.


Sustainability- Assist with researching and designing departmental sustainability programs and initiatives that contribute to the goals of the department and College.- Monitor, measure and evaluate effectiveness of sustainability programming.- Assist with sourcing and integrating appropriate packaging, sustainable foods and ensuring compliance with all regulations, where applicable.- Engages community in actively participating in sustainability measure and programs.- Liaise with marketing team to develop material, both in the food service locations and digital, that is relevant to College community.- Work with suppliers and culinary team with sustainable menu development, utilizing trends and feedback.


Communication- Facilitate meetings with students and parents regarding options available to them based on personal need to facilitate utilizing our services, with a significant emphasis on meal plan clients.- Create and develop messaging for department food program that engages the college community, inclusive of nutritional, allergen, and sustainability initiatives.- Facilitate information available to employees regarding the importance of mitigating allergen risk and sustainability initiatives through workplace awareness.- Facilitate focus groups and participate in community stakeholder events.

Administrative Ensures tracking occurs for required accounts and services for the department,- Assists with office organization, supplies are ordered and calendar updates are reflective of office operations, vacation and promotions calendar

Required Qualifications:

  • Three (3) year diploma/degree or equivalent in nutrition education from a recognized College or University;
  • Registered Dietitian and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario;
  • Two (2) years experience developing and guiding nutritional practices within in a large organization;
  • Experience researching and developing programming for nutrition and/or sustainability initiatives;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required;
  • Experience working in team environments with a demonstrated ability to build relationships/partnerships is required for this position;
  • The incumbent is expected to have excellent organizational skills, as well as planning, project management, and time management expertise. Proven ability to prioritize activities;
  • Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with a client focused attitude;
  • Selfmotivated with a strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
