JOB SUMMARY:


Satcom Direct is a leading global satellite services provider offering reliable and secure satellite-delivered communications solutions worldwide to business aviation and government customers.

SD Avionics, located in Ottawa, designs and manufactures communication products.

The HR Generalist will support the Canadian operation in providing daily human resource functions and ensuring that employees are connected to our World Headquarters located in Florida.

This is an individual contributor role where a high degree of self-direction is required to address all areas of the HR function.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position.

All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Satcom Direct (SD) operational standards, established safety rules, and requirements for adherence to company attendance guidelines.

The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:

  • Provide directional support and address employee issues or questions.
  • Provide HR support to Canadian location, along with the UK and other international locations as needed
  • Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees who require HR support
  • Partner with leaders by providing consultation, guidance, metrics and support regarding HR functions
  • Track employee programs, certificates, and other programs affecting payroll administration for all foreign entities.
  • Champion HR processes, programs, policies, and guidelines as directed by Corporate. Ensure that employees at the Ottawa location are connected to World Headquarters.
  • Partner with the Head of HR on performance management, staffing, compensation, and other corporate programs as assigned
  • Act as the prime contact for health and safety matters for the location, including participation in the health and safety committee, assisting with the planning and coordination of regular health and safety training and updates, and preparation and submission of legislated government reports
  • Assist with administration, coordination, production, and implementation of training programs, compliance policies, and procedures for this location.
  • Audit assistance
  • Facilities management for office and parking needs for site
  • Lowlevel IT duties: Setup work desk, manage equipment ordering and setup, equipment and desk setup repairs, etc.
  • Complete various filings and submissions.
  • Assist in maintenance of compliance with local laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, international relations or other business-related field or an equivalent amount of experience and training.

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
  • ADP experience a plus.
  • Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
