Accounts Payable Manager

Aston Carter's large wholesale distributer client is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to join their team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis, with the intent to take the candidate permanent. The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee an accounts payable team of 5-6 people, direct the processing of invoices and payments, and manage expense accounts and budget reports, provide exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and direction to A/P team; hires staff; oversees and delegates work assignments to meet operational demands and stakeholder needs.
- Set performance expectations and conduct regular 1:1 sessions.
- Facilitates the effective resolution of problems.
- Ensures compliance with corporate controls and legislative requirements.
- Oversees reports regarding cash flow; ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
- Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records.
- Analyzes expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
- Verifies payments before Controller's signature is added by reviewing checks and vouchers.
- Reconciles accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records.
- Facilitates correct and timely preparation of budget reports and purchase journals.
- Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
- Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting of Business Administration
- 2+ years of experience supervising or managing a team
- 3-5 years of full cycle accounts payable experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well versed in MS Office Suite- Intermediate level excel skills
Nice to Have:
- Great Plains or Bistrack experience
- Med-Large sized company experience
Soft Skills:
- Adaptable, high volume and fast paced environment need to be able to adapt
- Good interpersonal/people skills
- Ability to mentor and train juniors
Experience Level:
Intermediate Level
