As a Community Resource Worker, you would provide support to adults with developmental disabilities in areas such as; career planning, education, employment and volunteer activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitate and support clients in implementing and evaluating personal plans and goalsIdentify progressive steps towards identified roles and goalsProvide an engaging and positive environment for clientsTeam development within individual team, across teams, inter-agency, intra-agency, and the communityProvide personal care, as neededProvide behaviour support and follow outlined behaviour plans, as requiredLiaise with support networks; ensure regular communication with support networksAttend all required workshops and re-certificationsSupport clients in accessing resources regarding augmentative communication, if requiredComplete any required documentation within outlined timeframes (e.g., Case Notes, Medical Administration Reports, Incident Reports, Timesheets, etc.)Facilitate the development of relationships and natural supportsAttend all required meetings and planning sessions, as requestedEnsure full understanding and working knowledge of the 'Community Resource Worker Position Profile'Maintain awareness of and adherence to Agency policies and procedures; work in accordance with Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation Standards

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

Disabilities studies certificate/diploma or similar education or equivalent experience, with a minimum Grade 12 High School DiplomaCurrent Standard First Aid CPR/AED – Level C is requiredDriver's license (and vehicle) are considered assetsProficiency in MS Office and OutlookExcellent written and oral communicationParticipate in self-development activities to ensure ongoing learning and maintain high standards of professionalismKnowledge of or experience in community inclusionAbility to work independently in the communityAbility to identify issues requiring advocacy and advocate on behalf of clients and people with disabilities in generalAbility to coordinate and access appropriate services and supports with clients Experience providing personal careLift and transfer experience considered an assetExperience supporting clients with challenging behaviours

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Travel to all quadrants and communities with Calgary City Limits year roundWorking independently within both the community and client homesAttending team meetings and other commitments within the DDRC office
