Trans Mountain operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast.

We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic student to join our team as a
Human Resources (HR) Operations, Summer Student.

The HR Operations Summer Student will assist the HR Operations team in worker lifecycle operations and will have a chance to work alongside HR professionals in the organization.


This position is based of our Calgary Office and reports to the Team Lead, Payroll and HR Operations.

Duration:
May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023


Responsibilities:

  • Support HR Operations team and help identify areas for increased efficiency and improvement;
  • Work with highly sensitive documentations involved with the worker lifecycle, including employee onboarding and offboarding;
  • Help create a consistent and accessible filing system for electronic files;
  • Organize HR Operational data and ensure accuracy of reports and files;
  • Provide support to the HR Operations team in various projects and initiatives;
  • Research best practices and trends in HR Operations;
  • Assist in the planning and execution of HRrelated initiative;
  • Support data entry and clean up projects in our HR system;
  • Create resources and materials as required; and
  • Any other duties as needed by the HR Operations teams and other internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Preference given to students in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field entering second year or higher;
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential information;
  • Positive attitude and commitment to complete the task at hand;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently; and
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Additional Information:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited post secondary instituition and return to full time studies in the Fall.

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).


In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.


Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
