ROLE PURPOSE

This position will plan, develop, implement, and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Connective Support Society (Connective)'s Program(s) as well as supervise the program staff.


STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION
This is a temporary position until March 31, 2023, or until the return of the incumbent.
This position is unionized and is open to applicants of all genders.

HOURS
32 hours per week
Sunday to Wednesday 1000 to 1800

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designate
  • Supervises a team of staff, volunteers and oversees practicum placements
  • Facilitates the delivery of programs and initiatives to adults, and their families and loved ones, relating to effective intervention and community reintegration
  • Liaises with Connective staff to support the agency's initiatives and to deliver clientcentered services in keeping with our philosophy
  • Liaises with other community and government agencies in the area

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plans and develops the program/s in consultation with the supervisor. Plans and implements program activities and special events.
  • Formulates program/s policies and procedures and evaluates the program/s in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Oversees the daytoday operation of the program/s by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Provides direct support services as assigned by Program Manager.
  • Supervises program/s staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Schedules program staff in accordance to program staffing requirements.
  • Orients, determines the need for and provides training to program staff, volunteers and practicum students.
  • Monitors and authorizes program/s expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Prepares the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
  • Travels to other program sites as deemed necessary
  • On-Call availability as required
  • Performs other related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • A university Degree in a relevant branch of the Behavioural Sciences with an emphasis on Social Work, Sociology, and/or Psychology
  • Direct and extensive experience, a minimum of 3 years, in the delivery of supports and services in a correctional and/or communitybased setting, and specifically relating to the criminal justice system or community social services sector
  • Ability to be comfortable interacting with persons who have been involved in the criminal justice system and/or are high risk/high needs/high profile individuals
  • Demonstrated competence in identifying, approaching and securing both short
- and long-term funding from appropriate sources

  • Extensive knowledge of government and community justice services
  • A strong ability to work with persons in crisis and persons who are disconnected from their support network
  • Extensive experience recruiting, screening, training, deploying and supervising volunteers and practicum students
  • Experience in and comfort with public speaking
  • Knowledge of word processing
  • Excellent written, verbal, interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Experience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience with facilitating, creating and/or running programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to successfully pass a reference check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Valid driver's license
  • Personal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clients

COMPENSATION
As Connective is a unionized environment, will start at $28.38 per hour. The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $33.06 per hour. Plus benefits enrollment as per the Collective Agreement.
