PATIENT EXPERIENCE LEAD

(TEMPORARY PART TIME)
The Patient Experience Lead is accountable to lead WHCA in consistently delivering an exceptional patient experience.

They will effectively facilitate resolution to patient and family concerns by advocating in a DEI sensitive, patient/family centred manner and responding to patients and family members within legislated time frames (_Excellent Care for All Act_, They will be an influential member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), and instrumental in the development and implementation of a Patient Experience Strategy.


The Patient Experience Lead serves as an initial contact for patients, families, visitors, staff, and faculty, for the WHCA Patient Experience department.

Primary duties include performing the initial intake for all incoming issues, managing cases of low to moderate complexity, triaging cases to appropriate staff for further follow up and management.

They will assist staff with general inquiries, support the PFAC, support departmental project work, and take part in any other functions required by the department.

This is position will primarily be located at the GMCH Fergus Hospital supporting clinical care at this site. This position may include occasional travel to Louise Marshall & Palmerston Hospital for corporate learning activities.

  • Embarking on several projects; recently relocated to a new hospital, renovating Emergency and Ambulatory Care departments at the LMH site, while providing topnotchroundtheclock care to our patients
  • Located in Wellington County where staff have the luxury of choosing to live in either a rural or urban setting

You will:

  • Be able to gather information effectively, interpret it, and make triage related decisions independently or in collaboration with the department manager
  • Be able to be selfdirected in accomplishing the coordination and decisionmaking responsibilities of this position. Will be able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Be organized and flexible in response to changing demands
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow privacy related processes and policies according to Provincial and Federal legislation
  • Field all initial contacts from patients, families, staff, and others requiring follow up.
  • Complete a thorough initial intake and coordinate follow up (example: triage to appropriate staff or leader, or manage if the situation is low to moderate complexity)
  • Carefully document all decisions and case management into the RL6 incident management datable
  • Effectively communicate facts and information to key stakeholders (verbal and written)
  • Will support the WHCA PFAC and be an active Hospital representative on the council
  • Champion the mission, vision and values while promoting staff and patient safety, patient experience, and engagement

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as a regulated health care professional in good standing with their College
  • Minimum 5 years recent Acute Care Hospital clinical experience
  • University degree required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, interdepartmental contacts, and the general public
  • Have strong computer/technology skills.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of clinical practice standards
  • Must have an excellent attendance record
  • Have a valid Ontario drivers license & reliable transportation

Additional Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired

Hours of work:

  • 15 hours per week
  • The majority of the work will be completed during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Occasionally attendance at meetings/hospital events during nontraditional hours (early morning, evenings and weekends) is required.


Travel will be required to our sites at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Palmerston & District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital, so a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required.
