Please note that this opening is on our Second Shift, which runs from 4:00 pm to 2:30 am, Monday through Thursday. Training will be complete on the day shift. The shift premium is 15% of wage.

Job Summary:

Act as the team leader for the supervision and direction of individual contributors within operational area.

This position has the responsibility and authority for supporting the Value Stream Manager and/or Supervisor in meeting assigned area goals and metrics.


Essential Job Functions

  • Lead assigned team in the Production Fulfillment Process including resolving and/or escalating issues as they arise
  • Complete Safety Incident reports for any injuries/near misses that occur on the shift and upwardly report as appropriate
  • Establish work order priorities and/or shipping details with operational leaders
  • Monitor and review functional or operational area metrics against desired performance and provide input to the Value Stream manager
  • Conduct daily line level meetings to assign work order/jobs in order to satisfy operational/functional metrics and goals
  • Utilize various reports to monitor the progress of work orders / shipping deadlines to ensure ontime delivery
  • Ensure manufacturing procedures and quality standards are followed; including inprocess inspections
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Engineering, Material Handlers, Buyers, and other Support Personnel to resolve production or shipping issues
  • Assist in providing feedback regarding applicants, from the interview process and make recommendations to the Value Stream Manager, as appropriate
  • Assist in providing performance management / disciplinary needs to Value Stream manager
  • Assist in verifying accuracy and completeness with required paperwork or reports for production and shipping
  • Operate various machines, as needed
  • Perform multiple adjustments to tooling, speeds/feeds, edit programs and set up machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Manufacture complex parts according to customer orders per instructions written on Work Orders and blue prints
  • Perform manual fabrication operations as required
  • Complete work order paperwork
  • Perform inprocess inspection according to standard procedures
  • Maintain count and perform packaging duties as required
  • Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication
  • Participate in cross training to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the facility
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
Provide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling The Gund Company culture of care:

  • Ensure safety rules are followed by the team
  • Assist in the participation in all production process improvement Kaizen
  • Assist in daily shop start up/shut down process or weekend duties, as needed
  • Assign work orders to ensure Delivery/Reliability goals, as needed
  • Assist in reviewing NCMs/Corrective Actions
  • Actively engage with training other team members
  • Assist in the review of work order Gross Margin Performance
  • Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use
  • Make suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiency
  • Model ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund Company

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Perform work independently with mínimal defects
  • Communicate with supervisor on work order priority
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts
  • Very good math skills
  • Ability to understand drawing and blue prints
  • Ability to use complex measuring instruments
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to use Window/ERP based software
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed

Education and Experience


A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required.

Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing industry is required.
