We are a renowned architectural firm in Canada with a large team of 250 professionals who are known for our cutting-edge designs. We are looking for a meticulous and enthusiastic Specification Writer to join our Contract Administration (CA) department. Your main responsibility will be to create technical specifications that translate our design concepts into reality while ensuring adherence to codes, regulations, and industry standards. Collaborate closely with project teams to provide essential support throughout all project stages. Your expertise in CCDC contracts, construction methods, building materials, and industry regulations will play a crucial role in meeting our project objectives and compliance standards.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and Ensure Compliance: Create detailed technical specifications that align with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Manage and Update Master Specifications: Work with the team to maintain and improve our comprehensive Master Specifications, incorporating the latest standards, best practices, and technological advancements.
  • Enhance Digital Specification Processes: Supervise the integration and use of VisiSpecs.
  • Research and Select Materials: Conduct in-depth research to select materials that meet project specifications, focusing on sustainability and cost-efficiency.
  • Review and Analyze Submittals: Inspect shop drawings and product data.
  • Respond to RFIs: Address Requests for Information (RFIs) and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve inquiries accurately and promptly in line with project specifications and schedules.

What You Will Bring:

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Membership: Active membership in Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in progressively senior Specification Writer roles in architectural practices.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of current building codes, construction methodologies, and technical specifications.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in SpecSimple, VisiSpecs, BlueBeam, Revit, and MS Office Suite.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, critical thinking, and problemsolving abilities.
  • Flexibility: Openness to a hybrid role, spending 2 days per week in the studio.
