We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Specification Writer to join our Contract Administration (CA) department. In this role, you will craft the technical specifications that bring our design visions to life, ensuring compliance with codes, by-laws, and technical standards. Collaborate closely with project teams, providing vital support throughout the project lifecycle. Your deep understanding of CCDC contracts, construction methodologies, building materials, and industry standards will be essential to meet our project goals and compliance requirements.


What You Will Do:

  • Develop and Ensure Compliance: Create detailed technical specifications that align with industry standards and the project’s design intent.
  • Manage and Update Master Specifications: Collaborate with the department to maintain and enhance our studio-wide Master Specifications, incorporating current standards, best practices, and technological advancements.
  • Enhance Digital Specification Processes: Oversee the integration and utilization of VisiSpecs.
  • Research and Select Materials: Conduct thorough research to choose materials that meet project needs, emphasizing sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review and Analyze Submittals: Examine shop drawings and product data.
  • Respond to RFIs: Address Requests for Information (RFIs) and work with stakeholders to resolve queries accurately and promptly, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines.


What You Will Bring:

  • Education: Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Architecture.
  • Professional Membership: Current member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
  • Experience: 5-8 years of progressively responsible roles as a Specification Writer within architectural firms.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of current building codes, construction methodologies, and details.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SpecSimple, VisiSpecs, BlueBeam, Revit, and MS Office Suite.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work in a hybrid role, with 2 days in the studio.
