JOB DESCRIPTION
Dunwald & Fleming - Construction -Pipeline and Utility is seeking a Drill Operator and Locator to join our team. The Drill Operator will be responsible for drilling and excavating in a variety of rock, earth, and soil conditions. The Drill Operator will also preform daily maintenance. The Locator will be responsible for operating our DigiTrak and Falcon locator boxes and directing the driller.

The locator will also be responsible for helping with maintenance of the drill and changing out the drill head and reemer.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Showing up on site fit for duty.
  • To work in all weather conditions.
  • Perform maintenance, operate equipment in a safe and timely manner.
  • Use hand tools to cut, shape, or fabricate material using the drill rig.
  • Load and unload material from trucks using a forklift and picker truck.
  • Perform inspections of excavated areas to ensure that the area meets company standards for quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Potential out of town work with LOA

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to operate the equipment safely and in a timely matter.
  • Proven Competency/Ability
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License (preference for those with a class 3 or class 1 with air brakes)
  • Previous experience with horizontal directional drilling and locating equipment Including
10x15, 23x30, 36x50, 80x100

DigiTrak F5s, Falcon Locating equipment

  • Work around and expose other utilities following ABCGA best practices
- physically fit
- be able to work in an outdoor environment
- be able work 5 sometimes 7 days a week 10 + hour days (depending on scope of work)
- be able to show up on site on time
- be able to work and follow safe work instruction
- some out of town work may be required and would be compensated
- must have prior to starting
  • CSTS or PCST tickets (currently free online course ACSA AB)
  • Preference given to Ground Disturbance Training ABCGA Approved
  • Valid
  • Preference given to experience in Pipeline/Utility industry.
  • Preference given to Any other safety tickets i.e. 1st aid, endorsed by the ABCGA Global Ground disturbance tickets.
  • Working safely and follow safe work/Job procedures is a condition of employment.
  • Overtime Pay.
  • Currently working 56 days a week.
  • Fluent in English is a must.
  • Wage will determine on level of experience.

$28.00-$38.00 per hour
