ResponsibilitiesThe Project Coordinator (Construction Specialist) will be accountable to work closely with internal and external parties on a variety of facilities construction and renovation projects on behalf of Facilities Management ("FM").

The role will provide expertise in all areas of project execution, control and successful delivery.

The Project Coordinator will manage the creation of project plans for each project, and will ensure the achievement of project outcomes within the established timelines and budgetary constraints.

The role will define deliverables, metrics, identify resource requirements, manage project roles, meet training needs and provide customer satisfaction and reporting to ensure the quality of project deliverables.

The Project Coordinator will lead the tendering process for these projects including the issuance of consultant agreements, construction contracts, purchase requisitions, work orders and invoice approvals.

This role will prepare and present updates to key groups throughout project lifecycles, and support the development and delivery of key university communications related to the project implementation.


QualificationsEducation:
Diploma in Engineering, Architectural Technology, or Interior Design; or Certificate of Qualification as recognized by Skilled Trades OntarioEquivalent combination of relevant education and experience may also be consideredBachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or relevant discipline is preferredProject Management Professional (PMP)


Certification preferredExperience:5 years of project management experience in construction or renovation, successfully managing small to medium-sized projectsExperience in a large, complex, institutional environment preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Thorough knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, guidelines, and regulationsProject management skills to align projects with strategic goals and operational objectives, ensure team roles are clear, milestones are communicated, and deadlines are metOrganizational skills to manage multiple activities/projectsDemonstrated in-depth knowledge of techniques for planning, managing and coordinating projects that involve a variety of partiesAbility to handle diverse situations, multiple and complex projects, and rapidly changing prioritiesKnowledge of common project obstacles and necessary controls and contingency plans that will help address themAbility to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivityCommunication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organizationProfessional manner, tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and discretion in dealing with various parties and colleagues, including solid negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skillsSound judgment and decision making ability with a willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisionsStrong business acumen with an ability to influence, motivate, and inspire with or without positional authorityCritical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions.
