Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas.

The Facilities & Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for health, safety and security and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment.

In addition to focusing on safety, the position also involves activities related to facilities management and building maintenance. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.


The incumbent is responsible for providing advice, guidance and support in all aspects of health, safety and security, including the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guides and assists in the education and training of employees.

The Coordinator focuses on facility operations that mitigate risk and ensure the safety and security of SIIT's students, clients, employees, visitors and assets.


Must Haves:

  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation
  • A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license, as travel is required
  • Flexibility in your schedule to accommodate or respond to emergency situations as needed

Assets:

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Firemen's Certificate and trades related training
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and organizations
  • Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) level 1 and 2 certification
