AltaGas - Scheduler, Rail Logistics

AltaGas is looking for a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Scheduler, Rail Logistics. In this role, you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Rail Logistics, and will play a key role in managing the movement of LPG products throughout North America. You'll be working closely with a team of marketers, analysts, and schedulers to ensure smooth logistics operations.

This position calls for excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills, along with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-performance setting.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the day-to-day scheduling of NGL products (propane and butane) via rail across North America
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with customers and partners
  • Maintain regular communication with operations to align NGL transportation needs with operational activities
  • Collaborate with commercial and operations teams to strategize and implement product movements that benefit the organization's execution and margin optimization
  • Manage and optimize freight rates with Class 1 railroads to minimize shipping costs and maximize product margins
  • Oversee and enhance service levels with Class 1 railroads to maximize product movement efficiency and reduce optional service charges
  • Track and analyze KPIs related to NGL movements (fleet utilization, cycle times, dwell times, etc.)
  • Coordinate with accounting, finance, and Class 1 railroads to ensure accurate invoicing and payment
  • Handle documentation and Bills of Lading (BOL) for shipment tracking

Your Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related rail logistics role in North America
  • Prior experience collaborating with Class 1 railroads
  • Knowledge of railcar maintenance and subleasing is advantageous
  • Understanding of the NGL industry and supply/demand dynamics is beneficial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends if needed
