Essential Function and Responsibilities


Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Pipefitter / Steamfitter Apprentice & Journeyperson will be responsible for providing full cycle, in depth knowledge and support for the profession of Pipefitter / Steamfitter to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc.

achieves their general and specific project requirements.

  • Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use and lay out the sequence of tasks
  • Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, solder, assemble and install metal, plastic and fibreglass pipes, valves and fittings
  • Join pipe sections and related equipment and secure in position
  • Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
  • Remove and replace worn components and do general maintenance work
Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Certified Journeyperson Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
  • 23 years' experience reading piping and instrumentation design diagrams
  • 23 years' experience laying out and installing piping, tubing, fittings, and all related components.
  • 23 years' experience installing, testing, and maintaining low and highpressure steam and condensate systems
  • 23 years' experience rigging, hoisting, lifting, and positioning equipment.
  • 23 Years' Oil/Gas Industry experience
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • The ability to read and understand complex instructions and drawings
  • The ability to do careful and precise work
  • May be required to lift items weighing over 25 kilograms
  • Must be willing to work in remote job locations
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug test
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
Compensation and Benefits

- $ $50.00 hourly rate

  • Shift rotation to change per project requirements
  • 5 days on, 2 days off
  • 10 days on, 4 days off
  • 14 days on, 7 days off
  • 21 days on, 7 days off
  • 6 days on, 1 day off
  • 10 hours per day – hours flexible to change
  • Overtime is given at the rate of 1.5 times the employee straight time hourly rate after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
  • Overtime will be paid when an employee works on any regularly scheduled day off
  • All compensation and benefits will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement
  • 6% vacation and 4% statutory holiday pay will be provided in accordance with the Collective Agreement
Working Conditions and Environment

  • Primary work location at site in Edmonton/ Sherwood Park/ Fort Saskatchewan (and surrounding areas), Alberta with work and travel required throughout Alberta

  • Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
