Reporting to the Director, Learning Pathways the Manager provides leadership and day to day management for all School of Continuing Studies (SCS) Programs and support staff.

The Manager plans and develops the operational culture for administrative staff and instructors and works to improve the learner experience in all facets of engagement with SCS programs.

The Manager works closely with the Director and academic and administrative teams to ensure the programs offered are achieving outcomes, meeting the needs of learners and are attracting new learners to OCAD U's offerings.

The incumbent will support the Director in achieving enrolment and revenue targets and will support the implementation strategic partnerships and initiatives.


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Planning_
  • In consultation with the Director, provide ongoing operational leadership for all SCS programs.
  • In consultation with the Director, develop, implement and grow SCS programming in alignment with the institution's market and enrolment priorities.
  • Report on enrolment and learner feedback to inform institutional market development, strategic planning, risks and opportunities.
  • Working with the Director support institutional strategic partnerships and initiatives with the local and international art and design community, business, industry and other educational institutionsParticipate in Senate and governance committees as required. Act as the delegate for the Director in their absence.
  • Participate in external communities of practice as they related to continuing education and art & design education as required.
  • Contribute to the development of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility (DEIA) strategies throughout all programs, services and communications
  • Operations and Business Management_
  • Oversee the design and implementation of SCS registration systems, website, communications and associated business processes.
  • Oversee the evaluation and quality assessment of all SCS courses and initiatives, provide feedback and advise instructors as needed.
  • Oversee the day to day operations of the SCS including promotions, programming, budgets and timelines and ensure programs are delivered and revenue targets are achieved.
  • In consultation with the Director, recommend and develop SCS policies and procedures.
  • Support the Director, Learning Pathways in related duties that contribute to the successful operation of the SCS portfolio and special projects.
  • Supervisory_
  • Oversee SCS staff in service delivery and perform supervisory duties including; training, goal setting,
- performance management, professional development, succession planning and business continuity plans

  • Manage the process of hiring staff, developing and maintaining a pool of excellent instructors, class assistants and technicians
  • Lead the evaluation and quality assessment of all SCS courses and initiatives, provide feedback and advise instructors as needed

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, familiarity with Art & Design and adult education; program management an asset
  • A Minimum of 4 years postsecondary program management experience with continuing studies in a university setting preferred; progressive people management experience an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, risk assessment, communications, and project management. Experience supervising a team is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • An understanding of and experience working in an art and design educational context is preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience, plus benefits.

Hours of Work:
Total of 35 hours per week. The incumbent in this role will be expected to report to work on campus.
