The Opportunity


Rocky View Schools (RVS) is seeking an outstanding professional for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/week) position of Benefits Administrator to join our dynamic team starting immediately.

The Benefits Administrator performs all aspects of administering benefits for employees of Rocky View Schools (RVS).

The Benefits Administrator liaises with carriers, coordinates the employee annual re-enrolment, and acts as the primary contact for all RVS employees regarding benefit coverage.


Responsibilities

  • Liaises with Group Benefit Carriers and benefit consultant to coordinate employee benefit plans
  • Manages and maintains benefit information and related carrier systems
  • Administers benefit commencements, terminations, and changes and ensures accurate data entry of employee and employer contributions
  • Coordinates benefit information for applicants of early retiree benefits, leave of absences, and parental leaves
  • Invoices employees on leave and retirees for benefit payments and reconciling amounts received
  • Responds professionally in a timely manner to a wide range of enquiries regarding employee benefits
  • Investigates staff benefit coverage issues with benefit provider to resolve discrepancies
  • Completes annual reporting details and yearend financial records
  • Reconciles employee benefit accounts and other accounts as required
  • Assists in determining employee eligibility based on Terms of Employment, Collective Agreement, and Benefit Carrier Contracts
  • Assists with payroll document filing, employment verification and data entry

Education/Experience- Canadian Benefits Certification, Canadian Payroll Association or related designation Minimum 2 years' experience administering benefits for a mid-size organization Previous experience administering benefits within a school division and/or unionized environment is considered an asset An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered
