About Us:


Our Building Infrastructure Design Group is a collective of architectural and engineering professionals, working everyday to lead, guide and build our projects from early notes and sketches through all the phases of design and construction.

We use both a big picture (systems) lens and a detailed technical/code lens to help guide projects from big idea to completion of the project goals.

The types of projects that we work on include large additions and replacement facilities for hospitals and schools, art galleries, court houses, offices, and other buildings that support the various Nova Scotia government departments.


From our offices, located in the heart of historic downtown Halifax, we provide expertise throughout the design, tendering, construction, and inspection phases of major building projects.

About Our Opportunity:


You will support the project team through all project stages in the role of designer and/or owner representative, performing technical equipment reviews, general conformance reviews on site, and supporting project close-out.


You will be located in downtown Halifax and will support a wide range of projects in every corner of the province.

As such, travel will be required to perform field reviews to establish existing conditions, provide troubleshooting expertise, make recommendations on work required and confirm the quality of work performed.


You will work as a member of a team that supports a variety of clients with varying levels of technical knowledge.

A client focussed approach shall be employed with the intent of building strong relationships and trust.

This includes the need to manage expectations through open and respectful communication and to fulfill agreed deliverables within established schedules.


Qualifications and Experience:


You have completed an approved program as an Electrical Technician or an Electrical Engineering Technologist and have eight (8) years of related experience.

You are a Certified Electrical Technician or Technologist and member of a recognized Canadian Association or qualify for certification by a Canadian Association.

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

You must:

  • Have significant experience working with skilled Trades People, Construction Supervisors, Engineers, Design Consultants and Architects;
  • Be comfortable setting high standards and managing performance in a healthy work environment and thrive in fastpaced conditions and quickly adapt to competing priorities, contentious issues, and challenging deadlines.
  • Have superior skills in Electrical Design and Relevant experience in using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Familiarity with electrical and building codes in Nova Scotia.
  • Good understanding of drawing conventions and standards and the ability to produce quality deliverables and to monitor project tasks
  • Strong analytic, oral, and written communication skills and experience in institutional projects is preferred
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, communication and interpersonal skills, with a deep commitment to customer service, proven innovative approach to problem solving and an aptitude towards service excellence and responsiveness
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements, responsive to client needs and proficiency utilizing the latest version of the following programs: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook

Working Conditions:

This position has a combination of office and field work.

Field work occurs in adverse weather conditions and normal hazards associated with construction sites and working with or near heavy equipment are present.

This position will require climbing, working at heights and/or working within confined spaces.

You must be able to work under adverse conditions in times of emergency and sometimes overtime may be required.
