Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you'll find Vale's Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale's competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Sr Analyst, Procurement Center of Excellence to join our Procurement team in Toronto. This is a (14-month fixed term) position.

You will act as focal point of the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE) with Operations in North Atlantic, with an overall view of the req to pay process. You will lead vendor management initiatives and implement process, aligned with procurement strategy and, on a daily basis, will be required to interact and establish key relationships with procurement team and main stakeholders: health and safety, contractor management, sustainability and FP&A team.

  • Structure/Review/Implement processes related to Procurement and other multifunctional areas.
  • Represent Procurement as the focal point for HSER Contractor Pre-Qualification Program to be established for NA Operations/Projects
  • Represent Procurement as the focal point for Contractor HSER Performance Management to be established for NA Operations/Projects
  • Ensure HSE Pre-Qualification Process and Contractor HSER Performance Management are implemented in the overall Procurement Process
  • Work with other stakeholders to ensure HSE defined KPIs to be measured are included in Procurement Standard Contracts
  • Identify opportunities of tools to support the process of Contract Management and Performance Measurement
  • Identify opportunities on the Vendor Management process related to Vale Local/ Indigenous Community Participation Program in Supply Chain
  • Ensure deployment of the strategy designed for Vendor Management process related to Vale Local/ Indigenous Community Participation Program in Supply Chain
  • Support Overall Vendor Management Evaluation Process
  • Identify continuous improvement required through the process lifecycle.
  • Coordinate vendor management process throughout the life of the contract, ensuring compliance and performance.
  • Represent Vale's Procurement Organization in meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate all jobs, contracts and related documentation with due diligence and integrity, adhering to all legal, and company, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow-up activities related to procurement area as for analysis, support, and implementation of projects.
  • Create, develop, and control reports, research, and other administrative activities.
  • Analyze indicators, bottle neck mapping and process improvement mapping.
  • Act as a resource to customers in procurement. Carry out company Policies and Norms or raise to supervisor.
  • Collect, monitor, analyze and resolve supply chain issues, based on information provided by both parties.
  • Identify business risks and initiate steps to mitigate.
  • Carry out basic need's analysis, find opportunities, develop and implement strategies.
  • Carry out relationship Supplier relationship management.

About You

Education:

  • An Undergraduate Degree (Business, Economics, Finance or Engineering or related disciplines.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the procurement field (Commodities & Logistics experience required)
  • Experience related to procurement (mining, petrochemical or heavy manufacturing industry is preferred)
  • Experience with Vendor Management
  • Experience dealing with Multi-Functional Teams
  • Strong relationship management

Skills:

  • Understand procurement principles and processes, Canadian contract law, commercial terms, and procurement to pay business systems.
  • Understand and RFP processes, protocols, and industry standard methodologies.
  • Strong analytics and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluency in English, Portuguese nice to have.
  • Strong use of MS Excel, pivot tables, VLOOKUP
  • Solve new and progressive responsibilities.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and ability to work independently.
