Reporting to the Executive Director of the Analysis, Planning, and Budget (APB) unit in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) and working as a member of a team of analysts, the Senior Planning Analyst performs in-depth analysis of complex issues, articulates alternatives, synthesize findings and make recommendations to senior administration.

Extracts and transforms internal and external data and produces visualizations and reports using data. Trains, coaches and guides junior team members. Transform operational data (e.g., student, finance, HR, etc.) Includes development (data modelling), cleansing, validation, maintenance and enhancements.
Identify and address data integrity/reliability issues and use data cleaning processes to achieve required data quality standards.

Use external data from a variety of sources including Statistics Canada and U15, in combination with institutional data, to prepare analysis and reports that address institutional research questions.

Work with large data sets to perform data mining and complete statistical analyses.
Analyze trends and patterns in university performance over time using various benchmarks and comparative data.

Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, working independently and with team members to maximize knowledge sharing on complex projects and topics.

Work with stakeholders to understand their information needs and tailor the analyses to address those needs.
Contribute to data collection and validation for McGill's KPIs and monitor performance.
U15 Data Exchange and Statistics Canada.
Prepare briefing documents for senior administration and disseminate key results to senior management and internal communications.
Strong analytical background and project management skills; ability to transform data into recommendations. Capacity to find creative solutions and make independent decisions. Ability to work in a PC environment using databases, spreadsheets, statistical and visualization tools to produce analyses and reports. Advanced knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint. English and French (spoken and written).
