Finning - The CAT Rental Store, is seeking a Lead Hand Yard Person to join our highly motivated team in Edmonton.

As the Lead Hand Yard Person, you are responsible for a variety of duties including (but not limited to): shipping and receiving, yard duties, inspections and assisting with Customer Service Orders.

Job Description:

  • Ensures accurate and timely setup of customer service orders
  • Inspects equipment prior to shipment and on return for serviceability.
  • Communicates discrepancies for returned equipment
  • Performs checks on inventory levels of equipment, parts, supplies, materials and notifies customer service of shortages
  • Loading & Unloading Equipment, ensuring all shipping / receiving documentation procedures are followed
  • Assists rental counter personnel in selection of "rental ready" equipment upon request
  • Inspects equipment pre and post rental to ensure all equipment is in proper working condition utilizing our tagging system, presenting green/red tags to the CSR's for fleet/rental updates
  • Maintains yard organization and cleanliness to align with Finning's housekeeping and safety standards
  • Perform other related duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Possesses sufficient mechanical skills to perform and/or recommend minor equipment repairs
  • Minimum three months of operating experience of rough terrain forklift, counterbalance forklift, compact construction equipment, large construction equipment
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment or a similar industry would be considered an asset
  • Ability to operate variety of forklifts
  • Has good working knowledge of all rental equipment
  • Team player with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities

NOTE:

  • Due to physical nature of the work, a requirement of the job is to be considered fit for work.
  • Employee may be required to undergo a "fitness to work" assessment. These are most often done to determine medical fitness after an illness or injury, but may sometimes be completed after employment has been offered, as requested by the employer periodically, or as a condition of a job transfer.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be outdoors and indoors with general warehouse conditions. This position requires frequent lifting and significant degree of walking, bending and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions. This job requires interaction with coworkers and the public.
