This is what you'll be doing:

The Disability Management Specialist (DMS) will provide strategic case management of disability claims/cases including Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, return to work, absence management, WSIB claims, and work accommodation processes at all sites The DMS will support the case management process by reviewing policies, procedures, and processes regarding disability management, making recommendations and facilitating their implementation.

The DMS's analytical skills will contribute to the collection, assessment and analysis of data/indicators thus supporting recommendations for continuous improvement and best practice processes.

The DMS will collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure successful and timely outcomes.


The DMS will provide quality, proactive services to employees who require injury, medical and/or rehabilitation management resulting in their safe and early return to productive employment.

This includes data analysis in order to create routine and ad hoc reports as well as assessing, planning and facilitating return to work plans to meet the goals for the ill/injured employee and Halton Healthcare Services operations.

The DMS will initiate timely interventions to maximize cost avoidance and cost recovery.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Occupational Health Nurse required
  • Disability Management Certification preferred (CDMP, CRTWC)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in disability case management required
  • Excellent conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
  • Experience with data management and statistics
  • Experience with WSIB claims management
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, problem solving and teaching skills
  • Self motivated with superior organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience with Parklane software preferred
  • Must be physically able to do the job
