Who you are:We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results Geotab is seeking a Advanced Engineering Manager who will assists senior leadership with managing technology partners and coordinating complex hardware engineering projects from proof of concept to completion
What you'll do:As a Advanced Engineering Manager your key area of responsibility will be strategic planning, risk management, stakeholder coordination and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions within scope, schedule, quality and budget. Project focus will include initiatives in various parts of the product life cycle such as emerging technology research, New Product Introduction (NPI) and in life product sustaining. This role works closely with various internal and external stakeholders including technology vendors, engineers, product managers and senior leadership to ensure the success of Geotab products.
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts.
How you'll make an impact- Manage potential and existing technology partner relationships
- Align with technology leaders on the hardware roadmaps for new and in life hardware products taking into account existing and emerging technologies
- Provide insights to leadership on engineering direction as it relates to hardware development, design and testing
- Support project management of various engineering investigations, evaluations, developments and requirements authoring.
- Manage priorities as well as taking inputs internally and externally on emerging technologies and defining a strategy to assess products.
- Identify opportunities to improve hardware product reliability, quality, scalability and manufacturability. Taking inputs from engineering leaders and SMEs.
- Increase communication between engineering and supply-chain
- Identify hardware-related risks, issues, tradeoffs and develop strategies to mitigate them with SMEs (e.g., NPI).
- Understand and document stakeholder requirements for products, and translate them into technical requirements as necessary with a systems engineer.
- Lead project meetings and maintain detailed meeting minutes. Follow up on action items.
- Be the point of contact for Hardware Engineering deliverables, including changes in scope.
- Perform retrospective reviews post delivery of a product, feature or quality incident.
- Bachelors in Engineering and/or Computer Science.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering concepts, principles and methodologies relevant to hardware.
- Advanced knowledge of project management principles, tools and techniques, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management and stakeholder communication.
- In-depth knowledge of the product development lifecycle, from concept ideation and design to manufacturing, testing and launch.
- Proficiency in the technical aspects of the engineering domain, including relevant software, hardware systems and technologies.
- Understanding of quality management principles and methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions and products.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, as well as develop contingency plans to address potential issues and challenges.
