Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and dedicated Chef Assistant to join our kitchen team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in all facets of the kitchen, including food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, and customer service.

Additionally, the Chef Assistant will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines set forth by the restaurant.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness is essential. If you have the skills and experience to excel in this role, we look forward to hearing from you

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that food preparation and presentation meets established standards.
  • Schedule staff shifts and assign duties.
  • Assist chef(s) in controlling food and labour costs.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the storage and rotation of food items.
  • Provide support to chef(s) in the planning and execution of weddings, banquets and special functions, including menu selection and coordination with other staff.
  • Monitor and adjust temperatures of ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in proper and safe working order.
  • Assist in recipe development and preparation of new menu items.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of special promotions.
  • Evaluate food products to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure that all necessary food items are available.
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as keeping personnel records and payroll.
  • Ensure that all kitchen staff adhere to uniform, grooming, and hygiene standards.

Qualifications:

  • Over three years of experience as a chef assistant or similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Comfortable standing, stooping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
  • Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items.
