Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and being a key member of the COO leadership team, the Senior Vice President, Ontario is accountable for defining a regional strategy in-line with BDC's overall strategy and goals. As the head of the region, the SVP Ontario develops, inspires, and leads a high-performing team to support entrepreneurs in Ontario and creates a self-sustaining and well-managed risk practice.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Promote BDC's role as an impactful business development organization and advisor to Canadian entrepreneurs by developing and cultivating key relationships with entrepreneurs and partners in the Canadian business and financial communities. Work in collaboration with the Growth & Transition Capital, Corporate Financing and Advisory Services business lines to develop a well-integrated approach at the regional level, providing exceptional advice and financing to entrepreneurs while growing the regional market penetration. Oversee the development and execution of the regional strategy for the small growing and mid-market segments, adjusting the regional strategy to the evolving economic, financial, social and business context. Take an active role in the deployment of BDC's transformation to deliver a truly world-class client-centric experience, maximize client impact and overall satisfaction while providing a relevant and innovative offering to access more Canadian entrepreneurs. Ensure strong ownership of the credit risk decisions, practices and portfolio management to guarantee BDC's self-sustainability. Provide leadership to a group of over 250 employees located across 26 business centers. Drive the development and execution of an effective talent management plan including workforce planning, recruitment, development, engagement, career and performance management and recognition. Plan and manage the business center network to enhance and maximize BDC's presence in the marketplace and to ensure that operating efficiencies, performance and results are achieved. Coach the region's leadership team to ensure that each and everyone achieve their objectives. Ensure compliance while supporting efforts to simplify rules, policies and procedures in all aspects of the life of a loan (business development, underwriting, security & disbursement and administration & relationship). Support BDC's change initiatives, identify impact and develop and maintain effective communication channel to ensure the coordination of change management activities related to timely dissemination of information, implementation of initiatives and achievement of objectives across the region.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Progressive executive responsibilities within the financial services industry, preferably in the banking sector. Breadth of experience combining a track-record in business development and accountability for additional areas such as operations, strategy and risk management; consulting experience is an asset. Demonstrated leadership of large-sized and geographically dispersed business development teams. Proven ability to develop and manage highly efficient teams, with courage and caring. Strategic acumen and systemic view to craft and execute the regional strategy. Strong ability to drive change and lead transformation initiatives. Ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders. In-depth understanding of the region's economic and social conditions as well as broad perspective of Canada's economic and social landscapes. Strong network and credible presence in the Ontario business community. Solid analytical capability and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with public policy and government organizations is an asset. Basics in French. Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration, MBA (an asset).#INDHP
