Duties

As the Internet Content and New Media Officer, you will be part of our External Relations team working collaboratively with a variety of functions such as Resource Conservation, Asset Management, and Visitor Experience to develop, edit and publish engaging content on websites and social media.

Through your work, you will engage the public, partners and stakeholders in understanding and supporting our natural and cultural heritage. This position provides opportunities to leverage creative strategies to enhance learning, enjoyment, connection and participation among visitors.

* As funding is available, including special projects, regular hours may be increased up to the full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

Work environment

The Western Newfoundland and Labrador Field Unit (WNLFU) includes two national parks, a national park reserve, and four national historic sites. This field unit covers a large geographic area with operations in three different time zones in rural and remote areas. Three of the sites administered by WNLFU are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill a part-time employment opportunity in the Western Newfoundland and Labrador management unit. A list of qualified people will be established to fill vacant positions at the PM-03 group and level for various tenures: indeterminate duration, temporary position, assignment and specific period – on full-time or part time basis.

Education:

•Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized university or college with specialization in web design, computer science, marketing, communications, educational technology or other discipline relevant to the position; OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience:
EX1: Experience in planning, writing, editing, and publishing content for web sites and social media channels for a variety of audiences;
EX2: Experience in researching, monitoring, and analyzing trends and developments in internet site presentation and technologies, social media and site analytics, and applying research results and other information to improve effectiveness of online communications;
EX3: Experience working with photo and video editing software.
