Based out of our Vancouver Plant near Powell Street and Commercial Drive, we are hiring part-time Summer Students to be General Labourers.

The General Labourer is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the plant site.

Labourers assist in maintaining site dispensers, preparing waste to be properly disposed and efficiently unloading and offloading trucks containing raw materials and/or finished product.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Wash and disinfect the plant site, pits, pipes, countertops, roofs, drains, and other areas
  • Sort garbage, plastics, recyclables, metals, paper
  • Conduct safety pretrip inspections on the site forklifts and submit required paperwork to the Supervisor
  • Clean the yard and all pit areas including the walls and basement areas
  • Unload trucks and offloading raw material and finished product totes
  • Prepare coffee and cleaning the employee lunchroom, kitchen, and change room
  • Maintain the stock of products including paper towel dispensers, soaps, food, etc.
  • May be asked to safely operate forklifts and other hoisting devices when necessary
  • Wash and dry laundry (coveralls), and other laundry
  • Cleaning and painting cooking oil bins at various customer locations
  • Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
  • Work overtime as instructed to ensure mínimal downtime of facilities
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
  • Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful an aligned with company values
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and follow Safe Work Procedures as instructed to ensure all site safety requirements are met
  • Possession of a Class 5 driver's license is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined spaces, heights, cold weather, odours and animal byproducts
