Project Overview:

Intercultural In-Home Support Pilot Project (IISPP) aims to serve the low-income older adults in Cloverdale and Fleetwood, by providing a range of services to help them age well at their own homes.

The core services offered are light housekeeping, transportation, volunteer drop offs (grocery deliveries, pet supplies, books), friendly visiting, meal delivery to low-income and otherwise vulnerable seniors.

Additionally, the project will promote social inclusion of seniors by improving access to online services, financial literacy and digital literacy by providing in-home technology support via one-one sessions.

The project is volunteer driven as 70% of the services will be provided by volunteers.

The Program Assistant will provide support to Program staff in the delivery of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects volunteer information, availability, skills, and maintains an uptodate database;
  • Coordinates with IISPP employees to assess project needs;
  • Keeps new and existing volunteers informed about the IISPP project and volunteer opportunities;
  • Assists in volunteer training process;
  • Participates in outreach activities individually and as conducted jointly by staff;
  • Provides information to community agencies, and organizations to promote the project;
  • Monitors and directs the activities of volunteers;
  • Prepares schedules and records of housekeepers and volunteers' work; and
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Experience Requirement:

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business/ Social Work and/or a related discipline and/or the equivalent of education, training, experience and certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in providing admin support to a community support or seniors program.

  • Fluent in English; second language preferred
  • Strong ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients
  • Able accomplish tasks with deadlines & handle stress and pressure
  • Willing to take initiative, action & resultsoriented, flexible and dedicated to quality work
