Division Overview


This position sits within the Strategic Partnerships Division, which leads engagement with partners across the health system and the broader cancer community who are working to develop and implement practice and policy changes that deliver on the priorities of the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control.

We work across the organization and alongside system partners to develop work plans, monitor progress, and regularly assess new and evolving work to ensure it aligns with the eight priorities of the Strategy.

We also work alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis governments and organizations to drive forward the Strategy's three People-specific priorities and actions of the Strategy.


Overview of Role


The Analyst - First Nations, Inuit and Métis Cancer Strategy - supports the Strategic Partnerships Division in carrying out the important work of the Strategy.

Specifically, the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples' Specific Priorities (Priorities 6,7,8).

Reporting to the Manager, First Nations, Inuit and Métis Cancer Strategy, the Analyst supports the work of the team in carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities.

This role requires a broad skill set, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across multiple partners; a high capacity for collaboration including the ability to employ humility and emotional intelligence to collaborative work, strong time management skills and the capacity to prioritize workload; and the aptitude to connect multiple worldviews.


Core Responsibilities & Activities
Project and Relationship Collaboration

  • Supports the team's efforts at aligning with First Nations, Inuit and Métis selfdetermined cancer and health priorities through gathering evidence, identifying themes and informing consensusbuilding for decisionmaking. There will be a focus on the identification and analysis of emerging discourses within the area of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis health transformation.
  • Supports development and sustainability of relationships with key stakeholders including planning, organizing, and preparing materials for meetings, framing our work to align with both selfdetermined priorities and the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control.
  • Maintains regular communication with team leadership, ensuring the sharing of project content, status, updates, and findings. Collaborates closely with peers to support shared experiences in driving action with partners toward the achievement of strategic priorities and other deliverables.
  • Ensures accurate and timely communication with the Financial Planning and Administration team to financial matters related to funded initiatives in respectful and timely way.
Knowledge Translation and Exchange

  • Supports the Knowledge Translation and Exchange initiatives of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis teams, including the delivery of virtual and inperson events in collaboration with funded partners across the country.
  • Accurately summarizes and succinctly reports on ongoing initiatives for communication with Partnership leadership, including the Regional Integration Office and Partnership Dashboard.
Reconciliation

  • Advances the Partnership's Commitment to Reconciliation through both the demonstration of allyship in carrying out duties of the role and the pursuit of ongoing personal growth.
  • Contributes to the successful implementation of Partnership's Reconciliation Pathway, including but not limited to supporting initiatives during National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day.
  • Supports the ongoing refresh of the Partnership's First Nations, Inuit, and Métis advisory structure. This includes providing assistance with the recruitment of new advisors and ongoing support to the successful implementation of the advisory table.
  • Assists the Director, and division teams, as required.
  • Performs other duties and ad hoc projects as required.
