**Recreation Counsellor

  • Casual**
    ($25.05 Hourly + 10.6% in lieu of benefits)
Promote inclusion by supporting school aged children and youth with developmental
disabilities to achieve goals and explore possibilities through participation in community
- based activities. With a focus on adventure, excitement, friendship, and fun, Youth
Connections is living proof that some of life's greatest lessons are taught in a recreational
setting.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Provide direct support to children and youth with developmental disabilities,
including those with mental health challenges, complex and/or challenging behaviour
or support needs.

  • Initiate learning opportunities for social, creative and recreational skill development
and enthusiastically participate alongside the children and youth in activities.

  • Support individuals to achieve goals based on their own choice, beliefs and desires.
  • Establish respectful relationships which promote dignity, selfdetermination and well

- being.
  • Provide meaningful feedback and information to parents/families regarding their
child's learning and development, interests and emerging skills.

YOUR CAPABILITIES:

  • Relevant postsecondary education in related field.
  • Experience supporting children with developmental disabilities or working in a similar

- environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Clear, current Criminal Records Check
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Class 4 an asset).
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of an organization.
  • Reliable problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
