The Granite Club is looking for Art Camp Counsellors who will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Art and DIY Camp programs.

This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the Club.

Primary Responsibilities

Art Camp Counselor:

  • Lead creative and engaging art classes for children.
  • Teach various art techniques and mediums, tailored to different age groups and skill levels.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment where children can express themselves through art.
  • Develop ageappropriate lesson plans that stimulate creativity and artistic development.
  • Plan and organize art projects, ensuring all necessary materials are prepared and available.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment.
Other Responsibilities

  • To have a flexible schedule all 9 weeks of summer camp
  • Be on time for shift and ensure all materials are ready 15 mins before camp starts
  • Maintain professionalism
  • Be motivated and have high energy throughout the day
  • Learning best practices for teaching camp activities, including working with campers with special needs, using inclusive teaching methods, and general camp management
  • Take attendance before and after each transiting to ensure all campers are accounted for
  • Model good behaviour for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness
  • Develop ageappropriate weekly program plans to be implemented on a daily basis
  • Lead and support campers as they participate in ageappropriate activities
  • Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents
  • Reporting and recording details of accidents or incidents
  • Participant in regular staff meetings
  • Participant in training session prior to the start of camp
  • Be able to enter the swimming pool shallow end everyday with campers
  • Work with other camp counsellor to plan and coordinate camp events
  • Provide an engaging, stimulating, and safe environment for campers to participant in
  • Ensure First Aid Kit is up to date and with group at all times
  • Provide parents with positive feedback of their child's day
  • Be aware of any medical forms, alternate pick up person, allergies, or dietary restrictions of campers
  • Make sure area is cleaned at the end of each class and at the end of the day
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 1
  • Experience working with children in an educational or artistic setting.
  • Proficiency in a variety of art mediums and techniques.
  • Ability to inspire creativity and imagination in young learners.
  • Experience working with children from infant to school aged children is essential.
  • First Aid and C.P.R. certification required.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
