Detailed Overview

  • Provides direct nursing care to patients within the Medical Imaging Dept according to established standards and administrative policies.
  • Assesses and monitors patients' physical and psycho-social needs; identifies problems, plans, implements, documents, evaluates, and coordinates nursing care.
  • Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers and team members.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practice approach in nursing.
Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized nursing care to patients with varying complexities of illnesses or injuries during diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures.
  • Assesses patient health status, plans, monitors vital signs, and carries out physical assessments.
  • Observes significant changes in patient's condition and intervenes as needed.
  • Administers medications and performs various health care interventions specific to Medical Imaging.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships, provides emotional support, and educates patients and families.
  • Anticipates and responds to critical situations during procedures.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and monitors equipment for safe care requirements.
  • Responds to incidents and participates in activities to optimize care delivery.
  • Promotes quality management principles and contributes to research and special projects.
  • Demonstrates and guides clinical tasks, provides input on professional development, and reviews progress.
Qualifications

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of a recognized high acuity specialty nursing certificate and one year of recent related interventional medical imaging experience.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability in nursing practice within an interventional medical imaging setting.
  • Ability to assess patient responses, manage IV therapy, and respond to emergencies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and patient physiological reactions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Skill in clinical techniques, CPR, and use of applicable equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and physical ability to perform duties.
  • Ability to provide leadership, mentorship, and teach patients and families.
