Position Summary:


Promote public safety by training and developing a team of trainee inspectors and engineers for future assignments to the regional inspection/engineering teams.

Provide training, regulatory compliance, and technical leadership to develop the trainee inspectors and engineers in the CSA, ASME, and National Board of Boilers and Pressure Vessels requirements for the delivery of public safety services.

You will manage Work Instructions and Inspection Checklists to promote consistency with training activities.

You will maintain effective customer relations within the industry and align with TSSA's strategic direction and execute strategic initiatives on time and within budget.

This location will be responsible for Southern Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve program results in support of corporate objectives by communicating the organization's vision, Strategic Plan and priorities; providing team leadership and direction; monitoring and team performance results against established operations, productivity criteria
  • Ensure a positive image of the company and maintaining effective relationships by providing timely information to customers; building credibility with key external stakeholders; communicating and demonstrating TSSA's corporate values; and adhering to and promoting ethical business practices
  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting functional requirements; participate in the preparation of an annual program budget.
  • Create and maintain a workplace environment conducive to a high performing team by recruiting, selecting, orienting; promoting knowledge management and sharing; developing and encouraging personal growth opportunities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Identify high potential team members and provide mentoring/coaching to ensure critical roles have backups.
  • Ensure customer service excellence by ensuring that established service levels and standards are consistently adhered to; leading commitment to quality service; meeting contractual obligations; monitoring service results; and representing the company to customers.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe workplace by executing the program's OHS priorities; implementing risk control plans; leading team discussions to enhance individual and team effectiveness at working safely.
  • Enhance public safety by ensuring that safety inspections, incident investigations, quality systems audits, and other enforcement activities are implemented in accordance with the Act/ regulations/ codes and operations plans.

Job Qualifications:

  • 89 years of relevant experience in BPV field and supervisory role required
  • Professional designation such as P.Eng or OACETT an asset
  • Strong People Management skills; Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Eligible to write or have received the Ontario Certificate of Competency, National Board 'IS' and 'AI' Commission, National Board 'N' Endorsement
  • Knowledge of Technical Standards and Safety Act, Boilers and Pressure Vessels Regulation, ASME & National Board Codes, CSA Standards, and Canadian Nuclear Safety Act, as well as Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Firm understanding of Risk Management principles
  • Various technical and/or engineering competencies
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel, and TSSA workflow management software.
  • Knowledge of Inspection/investigating principles and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills and ability to influence;
  • Leadership skills (coaching, mentoring and performance management)
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving expertise
