We are seeking an ambitious, nimble and collaborative journalist with a bottomless well of story ideas to work in our Ottawa bureau as part of the Meta and Canadian Press News Fellowship program.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from emerging journalists in Canada. The fellowship is open to applicants who are working or seeking work in media, or currently enrolled in a media or journalism program at a Canadian post-secondary institution.

This is a six-month, full-time temporary position to start May 1 in Ottawa.

We are looking for a self-starter who is innately curious, works well in a team setting, takes direction and feedback easily, always hits tight deadlines and wants to make an impact. We are looking for rockets in search of launch pads.

**General Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Ottawa Bureau Chief, the successful applicant will:

- Report on a variety of assignments as assigned and become fully integrated in all aspects of all CP editorial operations.
- Produce original content for all CP platforms, including online, print, audio and video (some shift work may be required) in English.
- Take interesting local and regional stories and make them nationally relevant
- Work creatively and concisely under tight deadline pressure in a digital environment
- There are no work requirements directly involving Meta.

**Qualifications**
- A university degree in journalism or related relevant discipline, or relevant related experience.
- Solid writing skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with CP style
- Superior research skills and seamless familiarity with social media platforms
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to organize time and workflow effectively
- Audio and video skills are an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset

- Produire du contenu original en anglais pour toutes les plateformes de la PC, y compris les services écrit, audio, vidéo et en ligne (des quarts de travail peuvent être requis)
- Reprendre des nouvelles locales et régionales dans une perspective nationale
- Travailler de manière créative et concise en respectant des délais serrés dans un environnement numérique
- Il n'y a pas d'exigences de travail impliquant directement Meta.

**Compétences**
- Un diplôme universitaire en journalisme ou dans une discipline connexe, ou une expérience pertinente
- Excellentes aptitudes de rédaction
- Excellentes aptitudes de communication verbale
- Connaissance du style de la PC
- Des compétences supérieures en matière de recherche et une parfaite connaissance des plateformes de réseaux sociaux
- Souci du détail et habileté à organiser son travail et son temps de manière efficace
- Les compétences en audio et vidéo sont un atout
